David and Lisa Laing lead our Campus Ministry and Young Family Ministry.  David was born in Gainesville, Florida, where his father Sam Laing, worked as Campus Minister for the Crossroads Church of Christ. With Sam as an Evangelist, David's family lived many places over the years, including Atlanta, Boston, Miami, New Jersey and Raleigh, North Carolina. David was baptized as a teenager in the Triangle Church of Christ in 1994. In May of 2003, David graduated from the University of Georgia, with Summa Cum Laude honors and a Bachelor's degree in both History and Economics. He met Lisa during his senior year of college at a church conference. After graduating from UGA, David and Lisa moved to Gainesville, Florida to lead the campus ministry at the Gainesville Christian Church. They married in Gainesville in December of 2003 and moved to Columbia to lead the ministry at USC in March of 2005. 

David and Lisa are the happy parents of two young children, Sammy and Arwen. David's dad currently serves as Lead Evangelist and Elder in the Athens Church of Christ where he lives with his wife Geri. Also in Athens, Georgia, are David's older sister Elizabeth and her husband Kevin, who lead the campus ministry at UGA and his younger sister Alexandra, a student at UGA.  David's brother, Jonathan, a USC alumnus, and his wife Talia are disciples in the Greater Pittsburgh Church of Christ.  

Lisa Laing was born in New York and was baptized in 1996 as a college student in the New York City Church of Christ campus ministry at New York University. Graduating in December 1998, Lisa received her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from NYU, studying musical theater at Tisch School of the Arts. Upon graduation, Lisa served full time in the ministry in New York, working with adults and college students in Manhattan and teens and preteens in Rockland County until moving south to be with David as he finished college. Bill and Jean Patterson, Lisa's mom and dad, were baptized in 1997, one year after Lisa, and are part of the New York City Church of Christ in Westchester County.

The Laings love the Columbia church dearly and are having a blast serving the Campus and Young Family Ministries.
